James 0-4 for first time in 19 years

-

DENVER — A Lebron James-led team doesn't begin 0-4 often. Not since his rookie season has one of his teams stumbled out of the starting gate like this.

“It's a new system. It's a new group of guys together,” James said. “We're still trying to get familiar with one another.”

Nikola Jokic had 31 points and 13 rebounds and Jamal Murray hit a big 3-pointer as the Denver Nuggets kept the Los Angeles Lakers winless with a 110-99 victory Wednesday night.

With Orlando and Sacramento, the Lakers are one of only three teams yet to win this season.

“We're four games (in) and it sucks to lose, but we have 78 games left,” new Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “It's plenty of time for us to right the ship. And it starts now.”

Anthony Davis, dealing with lower back tightness, had 22 points and 14 rebounds for Los Angeles. James had 19 points to run his double-digit streak to 1,100 games. Russell Westbrook was held out to rest a sore left hamstring.

Jokic finished an assist shy of a triple-double.

Nash is ejected as Brooklyn falls

Brooklyn coach Steve Nash wasn't around to watch Giannis Antetokounmpo finish picking the Nets apart.

Nash was ejected for the first time in his coaching career after arguing that Antetokounmpo should have been called for an offensive foul against exspur Patty Mills while bringing the ball up the court in the third quarter.

Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks dominated the rest of the way in a 110-99 victory Wednesday

night.

Lillard leaves with calf injury

Damian Lillard left the Portland Trail Blazers' game against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night because of a strained right calf.

Lillard, a six-time Allstar, came up limping with just over five minutes to go in the third quarter and headed straight for the locker room. He didn't return.

The Blazers announced he had a calf strain, but further details weren't immediately available. He had 22 points, including four 3-pointers, when he was injured.

Wizards’ Wright hurts hamstring

The Wizards announced that backup point guard Delon Wright will be out indefinitely with a grade 2 strain of his right hamstring, the second-most severe. The 30-year-old veteran — the team's best defender — suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's win over Detroit.

Wright will be re-evaluated in about three weeks.
