Gobbling up more of your grocery budget
American Farm Bureau’s 38th annual survey shows the average cost of this year’s Thanksgiving feast is $64.05, up $10.74 (or 20%) from last year’s national average of $53.31. The U.S. average price of nearly every holiday food staple costs more than in 2021, with a 16-pound turkey almost 21% more than a year ago, and cubed stuffing skyrocketing by more than 69%. Cranberries was the only item in the survey that was cheaper than a year ago, dropping 14%.
