Woman accused of setting fire to ex-boyfriend’s home

- From staff and wire reports

When Senaida Soto video called ex-boyfriend Tommy Garay this week, another woman answered. The 23-year-old was so enraged that she went to the house he shares with his 2-year-old daughter, broke in and lit the couch in the living room on fire, according to the Bexar County Sheriff ’s Office.

Soto has been arrested on felony burglary and arson charges, the sheriff ’s office said. The fire caused over $50,000 in damages.

The couple had dated for only a month. The woman who answered the phone was a relative of Garay’s, the sheriff ’s office said.

Soto called Garay via Face Time early Sunday morning and showed him a chair inside his home on fire, according to an arrest affidavit. She said, “I hope your stuff is going to be OK” before hanging up, the affidavit said.

She’s also accused of stealing several things in addition to reportedly setting the fire.

County jail records show Soto is being held on $164,000 bail.

Garay has created a Gofundme page to help cover the damages. He said the house, which belongs to his grandfather, had been in the family for generations.
