Study stadium’s impacts

- Gary Morrison

A group of private investors has purchased the San Antonio Missions with plans to build a baseball stadium downtown. Prior to that happening, wouldn’t it be fair if they were required to present to the city a study defining the impact on traffic, parking, infrastructure and adjacent property values and taxes? This study would be available to the public for review prior to granting the construction permit.

Additionally, shouldn’t this group be required to provide a pro-forma financial document that details the impact of this project on Bexar County citizens? The pro-forma statements should indicate how local taxes will be impacted by this project over 20 years. It should also make public any concessions on taxes and fees granted by local government. That way, everyone understands who is affected and who pays what for how long.
