Avenatti sentenced to 14 years in prison
Michael Avenatti, the onceswaggering celebrity lawyer who was undone by his proclivity for embezzlement and fraud, was sentenced Monday in federal court in Santa Ana, Calif., to 14 years in prison for dodging taxes and stealing millions of dollars from clients. Avenatti was also ordered to pay nearly $11 million in restitution to four clients as well as the Internal Revenue Service.
Avenatti, 51, is already serving five years in prison for his extortion and fraud convictions at two trials in New York.
