QB Harris is elite
Re: “Will a star shine again?” Front Page, Sunday:
I generally agree with the vast majority of your excellent articles and editorials. However, I take issue with one phrase from sports columnist Mike Finger's otherwise insightful Sunday Front Page column about University of Texas at San Antonio quarterback Frank Harris.
He points to the pluses of Harris playing another season at UTSA — including that he probably doesn't have a realistic shot at the National Football League. This is the line that surprised me: “Harris doesn't have an elite arm.”
Now I would consider his size a possible liability for an NFL career, but after watching the comeback against the University of Texas at El Paso and his stellar play in the Conference USA championship game Friday, I would never suggest he doesn't have an elite arm. He threw some of the most beautiful, consistently accurate passes I've seen in collegiate football. It was like watching an artist at work.
