The Mysterious Benedict society

In the season finale, after escaping Dr. Curtain’s (Tony Hale) compound, the Society retreats to Number Two’s (Kristen Schaal) family home in Luxembourg, where she reconnects with her mother and siblings. The kids scramble to rebuild the Worldview Wash but are interrupte­d by news of a group of Greys in the village nearby. The Society quickly comes up with defensive measures while Mr. Benedict (Hale) and Dr. Curtain hash things out once and for all. After a final confrontat­ion, the Society comes together to help one of their own.

Too hot to handle

The dating series returns for a fourth season, with another set of singles arriving for a retreat at a new villa, where they will have to say “no” to their natural urges to win big. Five episodes drop today, and the season concludes with five episodes Dec. 14.

The holidays are approachin­g, and Dan (John Goodman) meets his mother-in-law for the first time. Darlene (Sara Gilbert) helps Becky (Alicia Goranson) with a parenting problem.

Will (Nick Gehlfuss) relies on Crockett (Dominic Rains) and Med’s newly donated OR 2.0 to save his patient; Charles

(Oliver Platt) helps a confused elderly patient mourning the loss of his high school sweetheart; and as their wedding day approaches, Ethan (Brian Tee) and April (Yaya Dacosta) run into some roadblocks.

TCM spotlight: Movie neighbors

TCM, beginning at 7 p.m. Marriage seems to be an underlying theme in this night’s batch of movies featuring dangerousl­y entangled neighbors, all four of which have literary roots. In “Good Neighbor Sam” (1964), Jack Lemmon plays an advertisin­g executive in San Francisco who helps his divorced neighbor claim a large inheritanc­e by pretending to be her husband. Marilyn Monroe tempts a married New Yorker (Tom Ewell) in the Golden Globe Award winner “The Seven Year Itch” (1955), while Ron Howard plays a young boy determined to connect his widower father (Glenn Ford) to the woman next door (Shirley Jones) in “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” (1963). “In the Mood for Love” (2000), goes to Hong Kong, where a man (Tony Chiu-wai Leung) and woman (Maggie Cheung) with adjacent apartments form a bond after suspecting their partners of having an affair. Sofia Coppola credits the film

as an inspiratio­n for her second directoria­l feature, the Academy Award-winning “Lost in Translatio­n” (2003).

The Goldbergs ABC, 7:30 p.m.

When Erica (Hayley Orrantia) buys a festive baby toy, Beverly (Wendi Mclendon-covey) accesses her inner Grinch and tries to steal Christmas. Adam (Sean Giambrone) discovers surprising informatio­n, and the JTP host their first holiday party.

Janine (Quinta Brunson) is convinced by a friend to go to a popular hookah club where she runs into colleagues.

The amazing race CBS, 8 p.m.

Greatest holiday commercial­s countdown 2022

This all-new holiday special will count down 12 of the world’s best holiday commercial­s, one for each day of Christmas. After landing a historic home in the L.A. neighborho­od of their dreams, a couple discover their Spanish Revival style is in worse shape than they thought. Luckily, Drew Scott lives down the street, so he and Jonathan Scott arrive to put their local expertise to work.

Severide (Taylor Kinney) struggles with the cost of helping Detective Pryma (Troy Winbush) with the Martucci case; Gallo (Alberto Rosende) campaigns for Herrmann (David Eigenberg) to represent 51 at the National Firefighte­rs Associatio­n’s winter conference; and a familiar face makes a shocking return.

Big sky: deadly Trails ABC, 9 p.m.

Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) and Beau (Jensen Ackles) investigat­e the disappeara­nce of a groom from a wedding while Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) enlists the help of Denise (Dedee Pfeiffer) and Beau’s daughter Emily (Cree Cicchino) to unravel the lies surroundin­g Walter (Seth Gabel) and Sunny Day Excursions.
