Jazz steal one from Warriors

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s Nickeil Alexanderw­alker slapped the ball away from Jordan Poole in the closing seconds with Golden State clinging to a one-point lead, and Malik Beasley found Simone Fontecchio for a dunk with 1.4 seconds to play as the Jazz edged the Warriors 124-123 in Salt Lake City.

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins sat out for Golden State, while Utah was missing Lauri Markkanen and Mike Conley.

Jordan Clarkson led Utah with 22 points. Fontecchio finished with a career-high 18 points. A rookie from Italy who will be 27 on Friday, he made four 3-pointers.

CELTICS 125, SUNS 98

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown each scored 25 points as visiting Boston embarrasse­d Phoenix.

The Celtics won for the eighth time in nine games, improving their Nba-best record to 21-5. The Suns — who came into the game with the best record in a crowded Western Conference race — lost for the third time in four games.

The Suns did get one piece of good news, welcoming back All-star point guard Chris Paul, who missed the past 14 games with a sore right heel.

RAPTORS 126, LAKERS 113

Pascal Siakam had 25 points and 10 rebounds as host Toronto routed a short-handed Los Angeles team playing without Lebron James and Anthony Davis.

James sat out because of a sore left ankle, and Davis missed the game with a NON-COVID illness.

Kyrie Irving scored 33 points and Kevin Durant had 29 as host Brooklyn outlasted Charlotte 122-116. ...Giannis Antetokoun­mpo scored 35 points and Jrue Holiday added 31 as the Bucks beat Sacramento 126-113 in Milwaukee for their 13th straight win over the Kings . ... Ja Morant had 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists as the host Grizzlies defeated Oklahoma City 123-102 . ... Julius Randle had 34 points and 17 rebounds as the Knicks capitalize­d on ex-spur Dejounte Murray spraining his left ankle in the first quarter to beat the Hawks 113-89 in New York.
