Red Hot Chili Peppers road trippin’ to the dome
Red Hot Chili Peppers will play the Alamodome on May 17 as part of their 2023 global concert tour.
Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. at redhotchilipeppers.com.
Opening acts for the San Antonio show, announced Monday morning, are the Strokes and Thundercat.
The Grammy-winning Los Angeles band, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, released a pair of albums this year: “Unlimited Love” and “Return of the Dream Canteen.”
Emerging as a chaotic punk funk band in the early ’80s, the Chili Peppers grew its fan base as it moved toward the mainstream, making the most of MTV exposure and the guitar pyrotechnics of John Frusciante and Dave Navarro. The band’s big hits include “Give It Away,” “Under the Bridge” and “Californication.”
