UIW hires new women’s coach

The University of the Incarnate Word announced the hiring of Jake Plant as its new women's soccer coach on Tuesday.

The former Eastern Illinois University coach led the Panthers to their first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament appearance since 2014 last season.

He resigned last week after five seasons as the head coach at EIU.

More charges in Aussie pitch invasion: The number of people charged over a violent pitch invasion at a Melbourne A-league match has increased to 13, police said Wednesday.

More than 150 spectators stormed the AAMI Park match between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City on Saturday, injuring goalkeeper Tom Glover, referee Alex King, a TV cameraman and two security guards. It came at the 20-minute mark of the match.
