Zero hour! TCM, 3:30 p.m.
Although this 1957 airplane-in-distress drama takes itself seriously, fans of the 1980 movie “Airplane!” may find themselves chuckling. “Airplane!” is basically a shot-for-shot parody of “Zero Hour!” at many points, and those familiar with the comedy will recognize some of the character types and names (like Dana Andrews’ Ted Stryker), the plot and stretches of dialogue that “Airplane!” lifted from “Zero Hour!” While played straight, “Zero Hour!” can’t escape its association with “Airplane!”
