UTSA’S slide hits 10 games

Middle Tennessee used a dominant second half to take control, handing UTSA a 10th straight loss 84-59 on Saturday at the Murphy Center in Murfreesbo­ro, Tenn.

The Roadrunner­s jumped out to a 16-9 lead about nine minutes in and trailed 35-29 at halftime before the Blue Raiders built a 49-30 scoring margin in the second half, stretching their lead as large as 30.

UTSA (7-18) dropped to 1-13 in Conference USA, losing 17 of their past 20 games following a 4-1 start. The Roadrunner­s, who hit just 3 of 18 3pointers in the game, dropped to 0-10 on the road.

Japhet Medor and Lamin Sabally led UTSA with 8 points apiece.

INCARNATE WORD 78 NEW ORLEANS 70

Jonathan Cisse had 18 points in the Cardinals' road win over the Privateers.

Cisse added three steals for Incarnate Word (11-13, 5-6 Southland). Trey Miller scored 16 points while shooting 5 of 6 from the field and 6 for 7 from the line, and added five assists. Josh Morgan hit three 3-pointers and scored 11.

TROY 68, TEXAS STATE 64

Zay Williams' 19 points helped the Trojans defeat the Bobcats in Troy, Ala.

Williams added seven rebounds and three steals for Troy (14-11, 6-6 Sun Belt Conference). Aamer Muhammad was 4 of 11 shooting (2 for 8 from distance) to add 12 points.

Trayce Jackson-davis scored 25 points and Jalen Hood-schifino delivered the clinching basket on a dunk with 2 seconds left as the host Hoosiers beat the Boilermake­rs.

Zach Edey finished with 33 points and 18 rebounds for Purdue (22-2, 11-2 Big Ten).

NO. 4 ALABAMA 79, LSU 69

Noah Clowney and Rylan Griffen led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points each to carry the Crimson Tide over the host Tigers, which lost their 10th straight.

Nimari Burnett and Mark Sears each had 13 points and Brandon Miller had 11 for Alabama (20-3, 10-0 Southeaste­rn Conference).

NO. 5 ARIZONA 84 OREGON STATE 52

Azuolas Tubelis scored 19 points, Courtney Ramey added 11 and the Wildcats used a massive first-half run to blow out the visiting Beavers.

Arizona (21-3, 10-3 Pac-12) slogged through a foul-filled first half before racing past Oregon State with a 19-2 run for a 26point halftime lead.

NO. 9 UCLA 76 WASHINGTON STATE 52

Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, and the Bruins defeated the Cougars for their 21st consecutiv­e home victory.

UCLA (19-4, 10-2 Pac-12) own the nation's longest active home winning streak, including a 13-0 mark at Pauley Pavilion this season.

Aliyah Boston scored 23 of her 26 points in the second half, including 14 in the fourth quarter, to help the Gamecocks beat the Huskies on Sunday.

South Carolina (23-0) has won 29 consecutiv­e games since losing to Kentucky in the SEC Tournament title game last year.

NO. 3 LSU 72 TEXAS A&M 66

Angel Reese had 26 points and 22 rebounds to help the visiting Tigers outlast the Aggies.

Alexis Morris added 22 points before fouling out late to help LSU (23-0, 11-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) remain undefeated.

An 8-0 run by Texas A&M (6-15, 1-10), capped by six consecutiv­e free throws, cut the lead to 66-62 with less than two minutes to go. Reese made two free throws before Kay Kay Green made 1 of 2 free throws on the other end to leave LSU up 68-63 with less than a minute left.

NO. 6 IOWA 95, PENN ST. 51

Caitlin Clark had 23 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Hawkeyes over the host Nittany Lions.

Monika Czinano scored 14 points and Kate Martin added 11 for Iowa State (19-4, 11-1 Big Ten), which took the lead midway through the first quarter and pulled away in a lopsided second half to win its eighth straight.

NO. 24 TEXAS 68 KANSAS 65

Deyona Gaston scored 24 points and intercepte­d a half-court pass as time ran out to preserve the Longhorns' win over the Jayhawks to remain in first place in the Big-12 Conference on Saturday.

Texas had a chance to put the game away from the free-throw line in the closing seconds, but missed three of four attempts, leaving the Jayhawks with an opening to tie the game with three seconds left.

TEXAS TECH 78 KANSAS STATE 68

Breamber Scott had 18 points and nine rebounds as the Red Raiders beat the Wildcats in Lubbock, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Jasmine Shavers added 17 points for Texas Tech (16-7, 4-6 Big 12).
