Celebrate in San Antonio with festival, river parade
...Spring Break is days away; March Madness, too. And Fiesta is on the horizon.
That’s a lot of revelry. But this is San Antonio, so of course we’re going all out for St. Patrick’s Day, and dumping a bunch of green dye into the San Antonio River just for holiday fun.
The Dying of the River Green — both downtown and along the museum reach of the River Walk — is part of the two-day Bud Light St. Patrick’s Festival today and Saturday.
The festival will feature live music, arts, vendors and food in La Villita. And a river parade on Saturday will feature a dozen Irish-themed floats carrying celebrants, entertainers and a bagpiper or two.
The river will be dyed starting at 1 p.m. today at Mad Dog’s British Pub; the dye will work its way down the river as a bagpiper plays on a barge at the front of the spreading green waters.
The process will be repeated at 11 a.m. Saturday on the Museum Reach and 1 p.m.
Saturday downtown.
The festival runs 3-8 p.m. today and 1-6 p.m. Saturday. The parade will take two tours of the river: 2-3 p.m. Saturday on the Museum Reach and 5-6 p.m. downtown.
