Ex-spur Primo is ‘in a better place’

- Nick Moyle

Four days after the NBA issued a four-game suspension to Josh Primo for exposing his genitals to women, the former Spurs guard addressed the league’s ruling and his ongoing legal troubles during Los Angeles Clippers media day at the University of Hawaii.

The Clippers signed Primo, the No. 12 pick in the 2021 draft, to a twoway contract almost immediately after the NBA announced the suspension on Sept. 29. He’d been out of the league since Oct. 28, 2022, when the Spurs waived him six days before former team psychologist Hillary Cauthen filed a lawsuit alleging Primo exposed himself to her on nine separate occasions during private sessions.

“Yeah honestly like, I think, well everyone uh, everyone felt like this was a bit alarming,” Primo said, per Law Murray of The Athletic. “Coming from myself, I think it was very alarming. It was very upsetting with these allegations coming out. But I feel like at this point in time I’m in a better place and I’m going to continue to get into a better place. But I had to take responsibility for the actions that I have going forward. And over the past year I’ve continued to do that and I will continue to do that.”

The Los Angeles Times reported Primo had spent “several months” meeting with the Clippers and being evaluated by therapists before both sides agreed to terms on a twoway contract.

Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank told the Times he believes Primo can still be a “positive contributor to the organization moving forward.” Primo said he will continue with a course of therapy while with the team, though he declined to offer specifics beyond that.
