Patriots’ Judon elects to have surgery to repair torn biceps

- WIRE REPORTS

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Patriots edge rusher Matt Judon has elected to have surgery to repair a torn biceps, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.

Judon is scheduled to have the procedure on Wednesday and be out indefinitely, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because it has not been announced publicly.

ESPN first reported Judon’s decision.

Judon suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Patriots’ 38-3 loss to Dallas last week. His loss is a blow to New England’s defense, which loses its best pass rusher and one of its captains.

Judon leads the team with four sacks. He has 32 sacks since signing with the Patriots in 2021.

He has missed just four out of a possible 118 games during his eight-year NFL career that began with Baltimore in 2016.

Seahawks stifle QB Jones, Giants

Rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon scored on a 97-yard interception return late in the third quarter as the Seattle Seahawks tied a team record with 11 sacks in a 24-3 victory over the struggling and offensively inept New York Giants on Monday night.

Geno Smith threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf late in the first quarter after a strip-sack by defensive end Mario

Edwards Jr. set up a short drive and Kenneth Walker III scored on a 1-yard run just before halftime as the Seahawks (3-1) won their third straight.

A fourth-quarter interception Quandre Diggs set up a field goal by Jason Myers in the fourth quarter as the Seattle improve to 6-0 at Metlife Stadium.

Herbert unlikely to miss any games

Justin Herbert is not expected to miss any playing time despite having a broken middle finger on his non-throwing hand.

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback fractured the middle finger on his left hand late in the third quarter after it got caught in the helmet of Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby after being intercepted by Trevon Moehrig.

He wore a split on the hand during the fourth quarter.

Bills’ Miller hopes to return vs. Jags

Buffalo linebacker Von Miller said on Tuesday that he may play in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Miller was set to practice on Wednesday for the first time since he tore his ACL on Thanksgiving last year. He said if he shows what he can do, there’s a chance he can make his season debut at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“Hopefully I look amazing tomorrow and I feel like everybody will give me the green light to go play in the game,” Miller said on his podcast, “The

Von Cast.”

Miller said there are some hurdles he’ll have to clear before the team gives him the green light he’s hoping for.

Pair of Packers back at practice

The Green Bay Packers’ beleaguered and beatenup offensive line could get an enormous boost for Monday night’s game at the Las Vegas Raiders.

Left guard Elgton Jenkins, who missed the last two games, practiced on Tuesday as the team returned from a break following its Thursday night loss to the Detroit Lions.

Meanwhile, almost exactly 11 months after sustaining a season-ending foot injury, cornerback Eric Stokes made his practice debut.
