San Antonio police identified the man they said admitted to killing a 65-year-old man on the West Side on Friday.

Bradley Adam Dimmick, 35, has been accused of killing Keith Dimmick, his father, and a dog on Oct. 13.

According to the arrest affidavit, officers detained a man after reports of a “suspicious person” looking into parked vehicles. While questioning Dimmick, officers attempted to get him to identify himself. That’s when he told the officers, “I just killed somebody.”

Officers began to question Dimmick about his statements. One officer reported that Dimmick said he killed a person named “Dimmick” at a house in the 2100 block of San Lucas Street, according to an arrest affidavit.

When officers arrived at the house, the front door was unlocked, and they entered the home when nobody responded to their knocks. A truck was parked in the driveway.

Officers saw blood on the ground “immediately” inside the front door and found a dead dog.

Then they found a decapitated human body in the living room. The severed human head was later found inside the bathroom tub, the arrest affidavit states.

Dimmick later admitted to officers that the weapon was “in the house.”

The homicide detective reported “apparent dried blood” throughout the residence — near the front door where the dog was found, in the living room where the body was found, in the kitchen, in the hallways, bedrooms and the bathroom where the head was found, the affidavit states.

The detective added that the residence had three “cloudbased” video cameras in the living room, driveway and front door. The camera in the living room was pointed toward the decapitated body of Dimmick’s father.

According to the affidavit, Dimmick’s father and the dog had “large stomach” wounds with their “intestines extruding” from their bodies.

Adam Knopick, Dimmick’s brother, told KSAT that his brother battled schizoaffective disorder and presented alarming red flags over the years, including an attempt to kill his mother.

Knopick told the station his brother had been put into a mental hospital but was later released into his father’s care. He added that Dimmick had refused to take his medication following his release.

The incident could’ve been avoided if the mental hospital had done welfare checks on his brother to make sure he was taking his medication, Knopick said.

Dimmick was charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and cruelty to non-livestock animals, a third-degree felony.

His bail is set at $1.5 million.
