Weekend events
The opening of Stable Hall is the highlight of the weekend, but there are other options, including Monster Jam and the return of comedian Ron White. Here’s a look:
TODAY
The Lone Bellow: With a focus on storytelling, multiple singers sharing leads, and harmonies and acoustic music that aspires to art, this Americana trio at times recalls the late, great Australian band Go-betweens. Last year, the band released a deluxe edition of its 2022 album “Love Songs for Losers” as well as a live album. 8 p.m. today, Charline Mccombs Empire Theatre, 226 N. St. Mary’s St. $29-$50, majesticempire.com. Camerata San Antonio: The chamber ensemble kicks off the new year with “Star-crossed,” a piano trio program featuring works by Claude Debussy, Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms. 4 p.m. today, Kerrville First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson, Kerrville; 3 p.m. Saturday, Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 11093 Bandera, San Antonio; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap, San Antonio. $8-$20, cameratasa.org.
Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular:
This multimedia experience combines Pink Floyd’s original master recordings with high-powered lasers and large-screen video projection. The show is split between a 3D journey into the music of “Dark Side of the Moon” and a light show soundtracked by the wall and viewed through prism glasses, which turn white light into a rainbow. 8 p.m. today, Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston St. $19-$115, majesticempire.com.
Mike Dillon: San Antonio native Dillon is a percussionist and vibraphonist who has played with Primus, Ani Difranco and Rickie Lee Jones. His current project, Punkadelick with drummer Nikki Glaspie and pianist Brian Haas, sounds something like a lounge group playing in a room above a basement where a funk band is working out. 9 p.m. today, The Lonesome Rose, 2114 N. St. Mary’s St. $10, prekindle. com.
Michael Yo: If stand-up comic Yo looks familiar, it’s because he’s made a bunch of TV appearances, including on “Fear Factor,” “America’s Got Talent” and the “Entertainment Tonight” spinoff “The Insider,” which he co-hosted on weekends. Check out “Do I Lie?,” his self-funded tour documentary series, on Youtube. 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. today, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, 618 NW Loop 410. $20-30, improvtx. com/sanantonio.
“Murder, She Barked: A Debbie Dog Walker Mystery”:
Playwright Scott Mcdowell’s latest is a mystery starring Debbie Basham Burns as a detective who is able to communicate with animals. The audience will determine how the show ends. Opens today. 8 p.m. Fridays-saturdays, with a matinee at 3 p.m. Jan. 28 and a pay-what-you-will show at 8 p.m. Jan. 18. Through Feb. 3, Overtime Theater, 5409 Bandera, Suite 205. $12-$18, theovertimetheater.org.
