Ex-alabama WR Bond will transfer to UT

-

Former Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond, who led the Crimson Tide in receiving this season, told ESPN on Sunday that he committed to Texas to play for coach Steve Sarkisian, whom he said had recruited him hard out of high school and they regained that connection this weekend.

Sarkisian received a four-year contract extension from the Longhorns on Saturday.

“I like the whole package that comes with it,” Bond said. “Great quarterback, they have a great offensive line. I felt like it was a great spot for me to come to.” Bond led Alabama with 48 catches, producing 668 yards and four touchdowns. That included a fourth-and-31 score that proved the game-winning touchdown against rival Auburn.

Ward says he's transferring to Miami: Washington State's Cam Ward, who finished fourth among all FBS quarterbacks in passing yards per game this past season and had previously indicated he would enter the NFL draft, announced his commitment to Miami on Saturday night.

Ward has thrown for 13,876 yards and 119 touchdowns in his four college seasons — the first two at FCS member Incarnate Word, the last two at Washington State.

Fleetwood takes the title at Dubai

Tommy Fleetwood benefited from two huge errors on the back nine from Rory Mcilroy and produced his own strong finish to win the Dubai Invitational following a back-and-forth final-round duel on Sunday.

Mcilroy had already three-putted from 2 feet at No. 14 by the time he reached the 18th tee with a one-shot lead over Fleetwood and pulled his drive into the water.

Fleetwood followed that by driving into the middle of the fairway and sent his approach to 16 feet.

Mcilroy missed his winding putt up the hill and Fleetwood made his own to shoot 67 for 19-under 265 overall. Fleetwood was a stroke clear of Mcilroy (67), who tied for second place with Thriston Lawrence (64).

Until he took on defending champion Novak Djokovic on opening Sunday in Australia, Dino Prizmic had never played a Grand Slam match.

The 18-year-old Croatian qualifier, who was born seven months after Djokovic made his Grand Slam debut in 2005, unsettled the 24time major winner before Djokovic finished off the match 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4. Defending women's champion Aryna Sabalenka ousted 18-year-old Ella Seidel 6-0, 6-1.
