UTSA falls to East Carolina for fourth loss in a row
UTSA fell into an early double-digit hole and could not complete a second-half comeback, falling to East Carolina 84-73 on Saturday in the Convocation Center.
The Roadrunners (8-16, 2-9 American Athletic Conference) have lost four consecutive games and eight of their past nine.
The Pirates (12-12, 5-6) hit a trio of 3-pointers to take a 12-2 lead less than four minutes into the game, and a 15-0 ECU run through the closing minutes of the first half put UTSA down 44-20.
The Roadrunners outscored the Pirates 48-36 in the second half, hitting 50% overall and from beyond the arc, but pulled no closer than 10 points.
Jordan Ivy-curry led UTSA with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while PJ Carter added 12 and Adante’ Holiman notched 11.
Brandon Johnson paced ECU with 30 points and nine rebounds, hitting 7 of 11 shots from 3-point range.

HCU shot 54.2% overall and 40% from 3-point range, leading wire to wire in a tight win at Sharp Gym in Houston.
The Cardinals (7-16, 2-8 Southland) shot 49.2% and 35% beyond the arc but finished with 17 turnovers compared to 11 for the Huskies (6-16, 4-7). Josiah Hammons led UIW with 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 4 of 9 from 3-point range. Four Cardinals players scored in double figures, as Dylan Hayman had 16 points with a team-high eight rebounds, Josh Akpovwa netted 14, and Josh Morgan posted 12.
UIW trailed by 15 with less than 10 minutes to play and pulled within one down the stretch but could not finish the rally.
