Mom of slain pregnant teen arrested on warrant during court hearing

The mother of the pregnant teen found slain with her boyfriend days before Christmas was arrested Monday during a court hearing connected to her daughter’s death.

Gloria Cordova had a warrant out for a charge of failure to stop and give information, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. She was quietly arrested during a hearing Monday to lower the bail for Ramon Preciado, 53, the father of the man accused of killing Cordova’s daughter, Savanah Soto, and Soto’s boyfriend, Matthew Guerra.

She was released from jail Wednesday after posting bond.

According to a San Antonio Police report, Cordova crashed into the rear bumper of a vehicle in August 2023 and fled the scene. Police later found her at her home where an officer confronted her about the incident. The report states that Cordova told the officer she left due to anxiety she experienced from the crash. She was arrested and booked into jail that evening, according to the report.

Bexar County court records show that Cordova failed to show up to a court hearing in September for the case.

Cordova was thrust into the public spotlight when her daughter went missing, and she posted, “I’m worried about her safety she is w her boyfriend who is no good,” on Facebook.

At first, it was unclear if Guerra had anything to do with Soto’s disappearance, but both were found shot in the head days after they disappeared in Guerra’s car, which was abandoned outside the Colinas at

Medical Apartments on the Northwest Side.

Christopher Preciado, 19, has been charged with capital murder of multiple persons in the deaths of Soto, 18, Guerra, 22, and their unborn baby, Fabian. Police accused Christopher of shooting the couple when he met up with them to buy marijuana.

His parents — Ramon Preciado and Myrta Romanos, 47 — are accused of helping their son hide the bodies.

Ramon Preciado is charged with abuse of a corpse and with altering, destroying or concealing a corpse. Romanos is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence with intent to impair an investigation and altering, destroying or concealing a corpse.

Both have been held in the Bexar County jail since they were arrested in early January, and their attorneys called their bail amounts “oppressive.”

Ramon Preciado’s total bail was reduced to $450,000 from $600,000 at Monday’s hearing. Romanos’ bail was reduced to $600,000 from $1.1 million Friday.

Cordova’s family is no stranger to courtroom interruptions. Several family members were placed in handcuffs during a court hearing for Victor Nathaneal Rivas, a teen charged with murder in the death of 15-year-old Ethan Soto, Cordova’s son.

Several of Soto’s relatives jumped over the bar that separates the gallery from the courtroom and assaulted Rivas, according to the sheriff ’s office.

As he waited for his case to be called, reports circulated that Rivas had made a gesture toward Soto’s relatives in the courtroom gallery. Videos taken from the courtroom showed the chaos as the family members hurled punches at Rivas.
