Jenkins sparks UTSA past North Texas
Jordyn Jenkins scored 29 points off the bench in just her third game of the season, propelling UTSA to a 66-63 win against North Texas on Sunday at the Super Pit in Denton. The Roadrunners had dropped five of six road games in the American Athletic Conference before delivering Sunday's win against the first-place Mean Green (19-6, 9-4 AAC).
Jenkins tallied her 29 points on 11-of-17 shooting, netting 12 in the fourth quarter as UTSA (13-11, 7-6) outscored North Texas 20-11 during the period.
Aysia Proctor was the only other Roadrunner to score in double figures Sunday, netting 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting. added a team-high eight rebounds, but the Bobcats were unable to keep pace with the Golden Eagles' fourth-quarter offense on Saturday at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Miss.
With the score tied at 40 after three quarters, Southern Miss (15-10, 8-6 Sun Belt) scored 28 points during the final 10 minutes, hitting 6 of 12 shots overall, 2 for 3 from beyond the arc and 14 for 16 at the free-throw line with just one turnover.
Ja'niah Henson also scored in double figures for Texas State (13-14, 3-11), notching 14 points. host Gamecocks (25-0, 12-0 Southeastern) rallied past the Bulldogs (11-14, 2-10) to win their record 43rd straight conference regular-season game.
Aziaha James scored 30 points for the host Wolfpack (23-3, 11-3 Atlantic Coast), who made their first five shots in overtime. Kara Dunn finished with 31 points on 11-for-15 shooting for the Yellow Jackets (15-12, 6-9).
Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore each recorded doubledoubles for the visiting Hokies (22-4, 13-2).
Kiki Jefferson scored 19 points for the Cardinals (21-6, 11-4).
Dyaisha Fair scored 33 points for the visiting Orange (22-4, 12-3 ACC). Camryn Taylor scored 20 points for the Cavaliers (12-12, 4-9).
Saturday in Austin, freshman Madison Booker had 18 points and 10 assists and led a fourth-quarter surge as the Longhorns (24-4, 11-3 Big 12) overwhelmed the Cyclones (14-10, 8-6) for their sixth straight win.
Booker also made three steals. Shaylee Gonzales added 18 points for Texas, which outscored Iowa State 23-10 in the fourth quarter.
Saturday in Manhattan, Kan., Jaelyn Glenn's layup with 2 seconds left lifted the Wildcats (22-4, 11-3 Big 12). Gabby Gregory led Kansas State with 19 points.
Kaitlin Peterson led the Knights (12-12, 3-11) with 26 points.
