SCHOOL DISTRICTS
CARLSBAD
The Carlsbad Unified School District board met in closed session Wednesday. In regular session, the board heard several presentations and approved of the Magnolia Elementary Construction Phasing Plan, CHS Science Building Construction Phasing Plan and the Hope Elementary School Final Design. The board reconvened to closed session afterward.
ESCONDIDO
The Escondido Union School District board met in special session Thursday to interview candidates for a board vacancy. Frank Huston was appointed for region 5 and sworn in. He will replace Dr. Gary Altenburg, who resigned at the end of 2019.
RAMONA
The Ramona Unified School District board met in closed session Feb. 13 to discuss personnel, real estate negotiations and labor negotiations. In regular session, the board heard a presentation on the Agriculture Department, and approved the school safety plans for all school sites.
SAN MARCOS
The San Marcos Unified School District board met in closed session Tuesday to discuss litigation and personnel. In regular session, the board heard reports on the dual language immersion program at Twin Oaks Elementary School, and on the Fortissimo Orchestral Program.
VALLEY CENTER-PAUMA
The Valley Center-pauma Unified School District board met in closed session Feb. 13 to discuss litigation, labor negotiation and personnel. In regular session, the board heard an update on the governor’s budget, and approved a resolution in support of Proposition 13, the Public Preschool, K-12, and College Health & Safety Bond Act of 2020.
VISTA
The Vista Unified School District board met in closed session
Feb. 13 to discuss litigation and property negotiations. In regular session, the board heard an update on its special education program and approved its tentative agreement with the Vista Teachers Association. The board gave final approval to its dual language policy, approved the renewal of the charter for Guajome Academy, and endorsed the Schools and Communities First Funding Act for a ballot measure in November 2020.
