PRECIOUS GEMS & METALS IS RETURNING TO SAN DIEGO

-

Stan Walter is owner of Precious Gems & Metals, which began business with a partner in 1979. He has been holding evaluation and sale events around the country since that time and visits the West Coast 3-4 times annually. The purpose of each event is to allow people to bring in their old coins, gold & silver jewelry and other precious metal items to sell – and also to obtain information about the actual value of various pieces. All of these events are FREE… and you will never be charged to bring in your items for evaluation at Precious Gems & Metals.

Precious Gems & Metals buys a myriad of items, but most often customers bring in unused/unwanted gold and silver jewelry (10K-14K-18K22K); coins; and sterling silver flatware and service sets. Mr. Walter also buys numerous vintage pocket watches and wrist watches, running or nonrunning timepieces. Mr. Walter is also experienced in the evaluation of old coins. Many times a family will inherit old coins and have no idea of the overall value. Mr. Walter will reference industry publications and current market prices before making his offer. He can test for metal purity and weighs each item so proper evaluations can be made. Walter, who lives in Wabash, Indiana, is on the road for nine months of the year, using business as an excuse to also visit family members, including a son and young grandchildren in Los Angeles. His son produces movies in Hollywood, which prohibits him from returning to Wabash very often. Walter also conducts events in the State of Washington so he can visit his brother in Laconner.

“Our customers are very downto-earth people and are sincerely interested in getting evaluations and to sell unused/unwanted gold & silver jewelry and other heirloom pieces,” states Walter. He goes on to say that other customers are searching for extra money for investments, continuing education or just to catch up on bills. Unfortunately, some items are not worth what people think and this is often very disappointing. “This small necklace is sterling silver,” he said to one customer, but it’s only worth about $8. I will buy it from you, but you could make someone very happy by passing it on down the family tree.” “We have a strong customer retention base ... approximately 47% of our customers have seen us before,” said Walter.

“It is our ultimate goal to educate our customers. We are a serviceoriented business. We take pride in the fact that for 38 years we continue to meet with our clients for a one-to-one evaluation to provide honest and up-to-date pricing and information! We evaluate each item, then let the customer decide how they want to proceed. Many times items are close to their heart and although a particular piece may have a high market value, the customer makes the ultimate decision whether to sell or keep it. We do not use high-pressure sales tactics on our customers ... never have and never will,” concluded Walter.

The longevity and reputation of his business is very important to Walter. “I want to assure our clientele we are here for the long haul and will do everything we can to earn their business as well as their respect.” Precious Gems & Metals has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and is registered with Dun & Bradstreet.

“We were very pleased with the service we received. Mr. Walter was very helpful telling us what our items were worth. We would do business with Precious Gems & Metals again!” Virgil, Huntington Beach
