RESULTS ESCONDIDO
The Escondido City Council met Wednesday for a hearing and approved amendments to city code about where smoking is allowed in the city. Outdoor dining areas and other public spaces were added to the city’s regulations. The council also gave final approval to a change that will allow small wireless facilities (5G) in the public right of way. An item on potential amendments that would lower maximum personal campaign contributions was moved to a later date. The council heard a report on the 2020 Census outreach, as well as on the redistricting that will take place after the census.
POWAY
The Poway City Council met Tuesday for a public hearing and approved new water, recycled water and wastewater rates. The proposed increases for water rates are 4.5 percent in March and 4.5 percent in January 2021. Wastewater rate increases are 6.3 percent in March and 6.3 percent in January 2021.
VISTA
The Vista City Council held a special workshop meeting Tuesday to discuss its 2020-22 goals.
SCHOOL DISTRICTS
The Cardiff School District board met in closed session Monday to discuss litigation. The board accepted and ratified the settlement agreement with Save the Park and Build the School. The settlement means that the district will immediately resume construction of all Phase 1 classroom buildings and related support spaces as designed in its original site plan. The district will not begin construction of the multipurpose room, expanded pickup/drop-off and parking lot, and outdoor assembly area until receiving approval from the National Park Service.
FALLBROOK
The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District board met in closed session Monday to discuss student discipline and personnel. In regular session, the board approved the notice of completion for the San Onofre New School Reconstruction Project. Another closed session was scheduled afterward to discuss litigation and student discipline.
SAN MARCOS
The San Marcos Unified School District board met in closed session Tuesday to discuss personnel. In regular session, the board heard a presentation on visual and performing arts and music enrichment at Richland Elementary. The second interim financial report was presented and approved. The hourly tuition rate for child care through the Kids on Campus program was increased from $4.71 to $5.09 per hour.
VISTA
The Vista Unified School District board met in closed session Thursday to discuss labor and property negotiations. In regular session, the board held a hearing on contract proposals with the Vista Teachers Association. The board also heard a report on school consolidation; approved eliminating eight classified positions and not filling 12 other classified positions; and approved its second interim financial report.
