Nearly 400 Attend Real Estate Legislative Outlook Event
Nearly 400 real estate professionals and affiliates gathered in Mission Valley on February 14 to hear policymakers and representatives from state and national associations provide important updates on issues affecting their livelihood.
The Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS® (SDAR) hosted the annual “New Laws and Legislative Outlook” breakfast at the Doubletree Hotel at Hazard Center to educate the real estate community on new and ongoing legislation affecting the industry.
“Our local REALTORS look forward each year to the ‘New Laws’ event,” said SDAR President Carla Farley. “We are honored to provide value to our members and bring together some of the most respected experts in real estate who are shaping the future of the industry. It’s these discussions that help prepare our members for the challenges and opportunities ahead in 2020.”
The panels focused on the San Diego region, with perspective on the state and federal issues from the California and National Association of REALTORS®, on topics ranging from housing economics and affordability, during the morning will participate in lively discussions on new laws affecting real estate, local housing demand, supply, and affordability, shortterm rentals, property tax measures, and other key issues facing the industry.
Presenters included San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer; Alan Nevin, Director of Economic and Market Research, Xpera Group; Gov Hutchinson, Assistant General Counsel, California Association of REALTORS®, Borre Winckel, President & CEO, Building Industry Association; Chris Cate, City of San Diego, District 6 Councilman; and representatives from the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Diego County Taxpayers Association; and California Department of Real Estate.
