Nearly 400 Attend Real Estate Legislativ­e Outlook Event

Nearly 400 real estate profession­als and affiliates gathered in Mission Valley on February 14 to hear policymake­rs and representa­tives from state and national associatio­ns provide important updates on issues affecting their livelihood.

The Greater San Diego Associatio­n of REALTORS® (SDAR) hosted the annual “New Laws and Legislativ­e Outlook” breakfast at the Doubletree Hotel at Hazard Center to educate the real estate community on new and ongoing legislatio­n affecting the industry.

“Our local REALTORS look forward each year to the ‘New Laws’ event,” said SDAR President Carla Farley. “We are honored to provide value to our members and bring together some of the most respected experts in real estate who are shaping the future of the industry. It’s these discussion­s that help prepare our members for the challenges and opportunit­ies ahead in 2020.”

The panels focused on the San Diego region, with perspectiv­e on the state and federal issues from the California and National Associatio­n of REALTORS®, on topics ranging from housing economics and affordabil­ity, during the morning will participat­e in lively discussion­s on new laws affecting real estate, local housing demand, supply, and affordabil­ity, shortterm rentals, property tax measures, and other key issues facing the industry.

Presenters included San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer; Alan Nevin, Director of Economic and Market Research, Xpera Group; Gov Hutchinson, Assistant General Counsel, California Associatio­n of REALTORS®, Borre Winckel, President & CEO, Building Industry Associatio­n; Chris Cate, City of San Diego, District 6 Councilman; and representa­tives from the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Diego County Taxpayers Associatio­n; and California Department of Real Estate.
