Living in San Diego County brings tremendous pride. Its quality of life is often considered better than anywhere else in the country, as noted by locals and publications such as Thrillist.

Beyond its concentration of tech jobs, California burritos and near-perfect weather, the city has some top-notch neighborhoods any Californian would be lucky to call home. Enter Rancho Tesoro in San Marcos, a tight-knit community in San Diego’s North County.

Established in 2017, Rancho Tesoro is a masterplanned community crafted by developer and homebuilder Brookfield Residential. The nature-oriented community spans more than 250 acres with dedicated open space and convenient access to Discovery Lake.

Brookfield Residential and its builder partner California West have built 346 single-family homes at Rancho Tesoro — with just one home remaining for sale — and the partners are now working on the construction of new townhomes.

“We were able to get a luxury home at a great price,” said Rancho Tesoro homeowner Natalie, calling it “the perfect spot in San Marcos.”

After the successful nearsellout of its single-family homes, the builders recently debuted two gated townhome collections priced from the high $400,000s: Skyhaus and Latitude.

Skyhaus offers two-story designs that range from a 752-square-foot home ideal for single entrepreneurs, young couples or emptynesters who want to downsize — to a 1,745-square-foot home suited for young families. The homes have one to three bedrooms and 1.5 to 2.5 bathrooms, private courtyards and balconies that welcome natural light, and one floor plan with a first-level office that’s perfect for those who work from home.

The Latitude townhomes have two to three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, or two full baths plus two half-baths in Residence 3X. The floor plans range from 1,243 to 1,933 square feet with large master suites, flex spaces, dining rooms, dens, family rooms, covered decks and porches with mycommand in-home technologies.

Skyhaus and Latitude homeowners with schoolage children have access to excellent area schools for all grade levels, including K-8 Double Peak school. Residents can also enjoy The Bungalow, a private recreation amenity with a pool and barbecue pavilion.

“The Bungalow is bound to be the backdrop for many community gatherings to come,” said Rachel Peyton, marketing manager for Brookfield Residential.

Community gatherings have been commonplace since the first homeowners moved in.

“It’s like being able to live your college years all over as an adult,” Rancho Tesoro homeowner Aarika said. “This time, you know you’re in your best years.”

Longtime residents of the community like Aarika have participated in the community’s many social gatherings, such as “dive-in” movie nights at the pool, Fourth of July parades, holiday gatherings and more.

“I’ve helped build many communities throughout Southern California and the camaraderie among Rancho Tesoro homeowners is unique,” Peyton said. “They take great pride in their community and in each other.”
