Diamondbacks 10, Padres 5

- JEFF SANDERS

Batter’s box: 1B Ty France and LF Franchy Cordero hit their first homers of the spring, their only hits in three plate appearances. … DH Tommy Pham went 1-for-2 with a gametying single in the fifth and a walk. … SS Jake Cronenworth collected his first extra-base hit of the spring, a double, in three plate appearances. … CF Abraham Almonte swiped his third base, walked and tripled during his three plate appearances. … LF Taylor Trammell tripled and scored on C Francisco Mejía’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.

Balls and strikes: After LHP Joey Lucchesi’s two-out effort, LHP Matt Strahm struck out two, walked two and allowed a hit over 1 1⁄3 scoreless innings. He has yet to give up a run through his first five innings this spring. … Like Lucchesi, RHP Lake Bachar allowed four runs — on five hits in the fifth inning — in his appearance. … RHP Jimmy Yacabonis, RHP Chase Johnson and RHP Evan Miller and each turned in a scoreless frame. … LHP Brady Feigl, selected in the Triple-a phase of the Rule 5 draft this winter, walked a batter to force in a run charged to RHP Jordan Guerrero, before popping up another to leave the bases loaded in the seventh. Feigl allowed a run in the eighth inning.

Extra bases: Cordero’s fifth-inning home run off D-backs RHP Archie Bradley left the bat at a velocity of 115 mph, just below the 116.3 mph drive that produced a 489-homer at Chase Field in 2018, the second-longest homer of anyone that season. … The Padres are 11-3, while the Diamondbacks improved to 4-9-1.

On deck: RHP Chris Paddack will make his third Cactus League start at 1:10 p.m. today (Fox Sports San Diego) against the Chicago White Sox at the Peoria Sports Complex. RHPS Kirby Yates, Emilio Pagán, Pierce Johnson, Javy Guerra and Gerardo Reyes are also scheduled to pitch.
