Movie theater launches private screenings of select films

-

Reading International Inc. has launched private film showings at four Angelika Film Centers nationwide including Angelika Carmel Mountain in San Diego. The private screenings are limited to groups of up to 10 people and can be booked at angelikablog.com/vip. Cost is $150, plus a required minimum $20 concession package. The packages are available at the Carmel Mountain location, 11620 Carmel Mountain Road, Thursday through Sunday, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. for a select number of films. A host will show guests to their auditorium where the prepaid popcorn and drink selections will be made available. The host will also be available throughout the show to take additional food and drink orders, which include beer, wine and cocktails.

“The magic of going to the movies has provided a mental escape for people around the world for more than a century,” said Kelley Anderson, Angelika Film Center’s director of marketing. “We understand a segment of our Angelika audience may feel more comfortable watching a movie with just their family and friends, or even by themselves, so we are now providing that as an option while communities continue to face COVID-19 challenges.”

The initial slate of private screening films includes five arthouse films: “Lucky Grandma,” “The Booksellers,” “House of Cardin,” “Ella Fitzgerald: Just One of Those Things,” and “Aviva.” Family films are also available, with October’s selections focusing on Halloween favorites. Event and promotions managers can be reached at vipscreening.afc@readingrdi.com. For more information about the theater and its safety protocols, visit angelikafilmcenter.com.
