CITY COUNCILS CARLSBAD

The Carlsbad City Council will meet in closed session at 2 p.m. Tuesday to discuss litigation. In open session at 3 p.m., a hearing will be held on the appeal of a decision to allow a four-story, 23-unit residentia­l apartment building at Romeria and Gibraltar streets. The council will discuss naming the park at Buena Vista Reservoir. The council may also discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on the city's tourism workforce and a potential worker recall ordinance. The council will receive an informatio­nal presentati­on on Carls bad connects, the city's new service request and community engagement app. Carlsbad is looking for community feedback on its Sustainabl­e Mobility Plan. The plan was created to help improve transporta­tion-related safety, increase travel choices and meet sustainabi­lity goals. The plan also helps implement the Mobility Element of the city's General Plan. The city is asking residents to watch a short video and fill out a five-minute survey at bit.ly/3knosds. ENCINITAS

The Encinitas City Council will meet in special session at 5 p.m. Monday to discuss the Sixth Cycle Housing Element Update 2021-2029 findings. The council will also meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday to update the 2018 Climate Action Plan for the 5th Cycle Housing Element update. An ordinance regulating group homes, including sober living homes, will be introduced.

ESCONDIDO

The Escondido City Council will meet in closed session to discuss litigation at 5 p.m. Wednesday. In regular session at 6 p.m., the council will discuss using Prop 68 Per Capita grant funds to build a bike park at Jesmond Dene Park, which was approved in 2017, and naming the park for the late Councilmem­ber John Masson. The council will also hold a hearing and discuss plans for the Nutmeg Homes Project – South Portion, which includes developmen­t of 97 townhome units south of North Nutmeg Street between North Centre City Parkway and Interstate 15. The council will also consider raising city user fees.

The Oceanside City Council will meet in closed session at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss labor negotiatio­ns, property negotiatio­ns and litigation. In open session starting at 5 p.m., the council will consider amending city code to allow the use of floats to store a dinghy within a slip or at a permitted wet storage location; and whether to approve Rio Rockwell, a 104-unit residentia­l developmen­t on the west side of Frazee Road and north of Old Grove Road.

POWAY

The Poway City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a pre-developmen­t conference on a request to allow a resort hotel with up to 140 rooms at the Maderas Golf Club. A closed session will follow to discuss property negotiatio­ns.

The city of Poway is seeking community input as it prepares to update the Housing and Public Safety Elements sections of its General Plan. These are two of seven elements required by the state and must be updated every five to 10 years. The public can participat­e by taking a brief survey at surveymonk­ey.com/r/rpsp58q. The survey will be available through Nov. 30. SOLANA BEACH

The Solana Beach City Council will meet in closed session at 5 p.m. Wednesday to discuss litigation. In open session at 6 p.m., the council will give final approval to an agreement designatin­g Johanna N. Canlas as city attorney. The council will hold a hearing on the use of Community Developmen­t Block Grant funds for ADA pedestrian ramp improvemen­ts at various intersecti­ons. A hearing will also be held on updates to the city's schedule of fees and charges. The council will consider a request to extend the use of temporary outdoor lighting for Santa Fe Christian CIF athletic practices.

The city of Solana Beach has several openings on its various citizen commission­s. Most require applicants to be at least 18 years old, city residents, and sometimes to be property owners in the city. Applicatio­ns are being accepted through 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19.

CARLSBAD

The Carlsbad Unified School District board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

DEL MAR

The Del Mar Union School District board is scheduled to meet in closed session at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and in open session at 5:45 p.m.

SAN DIEGUITO

The San Dieguito Union High School District board will meet at 4:45 p.m. Thursday as the School Facilities Financing Authority for an update. At 5 p.m., the board will meet in closed session to discuss labor negotiatio­ns. In open session, the board will discuss a swimming pools developmen­t study update; recognize retiring trustees Joyce Dalessandr­o and Beth Hergesheim­er; and will discuss school reopening plans.

SAN MARCOS

The San Marcos Unified School District board will meet in special session at 4 p.m. Monday for a budget adjustment presentati­on. The board will also meet in closed session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss personnel, student discipline and labor negotiatio­ns. In open session at 6:30 p.m., the board will give final approval to adjusted agreements with the California School Employees Associatio­n Chapter 413 and the San Marcos Educators Associatio­n. Final approval is also expected for a request to seek bids for a Wide Area Network Telecommun­ications & Internet upgrade. The board will hear a General Fund budget summary for the period ending Oct. 31.

SOLANA BEACH

The Solana Beach School District board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

VISTA

The Vista Unified School District will meet for a board workshop on equity at 5 p.m. Thursday.
