CITY COUNCILS

The Carlsbad City Council will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday to approve its election results and swear in its newly elected and re-elected members. The council will also hear reports on actions and expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will introduce an urgency ordinance regarding hotel employee recall rights.

DEL MAR

The Del Mar City Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday to affirm the results of the 2020 general municipal election and swear in re-elected Councilmem­ber Dave Druker and newly elected members Tracy Martinez and Dan Quirk. Outgoing Councilmem­ber Sherryl Parks and outgoing Mayor Ellie Haviland will speak. The council will also appoint a mayor and deputy mayor.

ENCINITAS

The Encinitas City Council will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Tuesday. A regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday when the council will introduce an ordinance proposing changes to city code and the Local Coastal Plan to implement recent changes to the state’s Density Bonus law and to add Planning Commission recommenda­tions. The ordinance also includes a housing program to provide an increased density bonus as an alternativ­e to the 50 percent density bonus provided in Assembly Bill 2345. The council will also consider $75,000 in additional CARES funding to help small businesses through a donation to the Encinitas Small Business Support Fund administer­ed by the Cardiff-bythe-sea Foundation.

ESCONDIDO

The Escondido City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday to certify election results and swear in its new members, Tina Inscoe (District 2) and Joe Garcia (District 3). Councilmem­ber Mike Morasco will be sworn in as deputy mayor.

SAN MARCOS

The San Marcos City Council is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday to certify election results and swear in its re-elected and newly elected council members. A regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. to approve the city’s climate action plan update and to approve funds from the Community Developmen­t Block Grant program to be allocated for coronaviru­s funding.

SOLANA BEACH

The Solana Beach City Council will meet in special session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to certify its election results and swear in its re-elected and newly elected members, including Mayor Lesa Heebner. In regular session at 6 p.m., the council will review its 6th Cycle Housing Element Update and its 2019/20 comprehens­ive annual financial report.

The city of Solana Beach has several openings on its various citizen commission­s. Most require applicants to be at least 18 years old, city residents, and sometimes to be property owners in the city. Applicatio­ns are being accepted through 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19. Openings are: Budget & Finance, three openings; Climate Action, three vacancies; Parks & Recreation, four openings; Public Arts, three openings; and View Assessment, three vacancies. VISTA

The Vista City Council will meet in closed session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by regular session. The council will swear in its newly elected members, appoint a deputy mayor and make appointmen­ts to various city boards and commission­s. The council will also hear its first quarter financial report, and discuss a request for funding from Operation Hope North County, a nonprofit that helps the homeless.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS BONSALL

The Bonsall Unified School District board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday to review its first interim budget report.

CARLSBAD

The Carlsbad Unified School District board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

POWAY

The Poway Unified School District board is scheduled to meet in closed session at 6 p.m. Thursday and in regular session afterward.

SOLANA BEACH

The Solana Beach School District board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
