Libraries offering door-side service

- linda.mcintosh@sduniontribune.com

San Diego County Library's 33 branches have closed their buildings to patrons to curtail the spread of COVID-19, but will provide walk-up door-side service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, following guidance from the California Department of Public Health.

No appointment is required to pick up requested library materials through the walk-up door-side service. Customers can check out books, movies and CDS through the library's online system or by calling a branch. When items are ready for pick up, customers will receive an automatic notice via email, phone or mail.

The County Library's Digital Library provides 24/7 access to e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and learning opportunities like Lynda.com, Mango Languages along with resume and interview assistance through Jobnow/vetnow. New customers can get a digital library card for remote access from home or work at sdcl.org/ ecard.

The library continues to accept enrollment into Library High School, which provides an accredited high school diploma for adults ages 19 and older at libraryhighschool.org.

The due date for borrowed library materials is extended to Feb. 3. During this closure, customers can still return materials in person.

Wi-fi service is still accessible from the outside of most library branches.

To access digital services, visit sdcl.org.
