“The Best of Rory Gallagher”

-

Irish blues-rock guitar great Rory Gallagher has been cited as a key influence by everyone from Joe Bonamassa and Guns N’ Roses’ Slash to members of U2, Queen and The Smiths. A charismatic performer who eschewed the spotlight offstage, Gallagher made more than a dozen solo albums before his death in 1995 at the age of 47. "his 30-song collection offers only one previously unheard track, a charged version of the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” which was recorded in London with Jerry Lee Lewis in 1973. But for Gallagher neophytes, this non-chronologically sequenced collection provides a reasonable overview of his work. Selections stretch from his electrifying 1969 debut album with the virtuoso power trio Taste to his final solo album, 1988’s “Fresh Evidence.”
