Gunfire from vehicle leads to standoff
A gunman in a vehicle opened fire on another vehicle Friday afternoon in Scripps Ranch, prompting a standoff and eventual arrest at a nearby housing complex, police said.
Nobody was injured in the car-to-car shooting, though the victim’s vehicle was struck, according to San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez.
The gunfire was reported about 2:20 p.m. on Scripps Westview Way, in a neighborhood of dead-end roads off Scripps Ranch Boulevard just east of Interstate 15.
A witness who apparently recognized the shooter told police the gunman lived about a block away.
Police went to the complex of apartment homes to try to make contact with the suspected shooter, Martinez said. A suspect was arrested a few hours later.
