CORONADO, CA — Nancy Jane O’hara Mires, 91, of Coronado, California, passed away on January 18, 2021. She was born in Syracuse, New York, on April 5, 1929, and was raised there by her parents Robert and Jessie O’hara, along with her sister Jean.

Nancy went to St. Lawrence University and received her degree in nursing from Syracuse University, where she met the love of her life. They married in Syracuse in 1952 and had three sons. They traveled the country with stops in New York, Boston, Philadelph­ia, and San Francisco before settling in Coronado in 1973.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years Ronald Mires and sons Geoff and Scott, ten grandchild­ren, seven great-grandchild­ren with one on the way, and countless nieces and nephews. She is now smiling down from heaven with her middle son Ronald “Chip” Mires, who passed in 2016.

Nancy was a kindhearte­d, fun-loving, quickwitte­d, chocolate craving, beach walking, pool swimming, Cub Scout leading, big hugging, goal inspiring, Yahtzee winning, happy go lucky, Hawaii vacationin­g, pie baking, straight-talking, ice cream sundaes, sunworship­ping, silly sided, warm smiling, husband loving, son adoring, fun grandma-ing, friend endearing, one of a kind who’ll be deeply missed by us all.
