SAN DIEGO — Sandra Rene (Klaus) Barker, 58, passed away on January 20, 2021, at her home in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, after a courageous two-year battle with uterine carcinosarcoma. Sandy was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL, to Robert Francis Klaus and Mary Jacqueline (Pechous) Klaus Woolbright.

She spent most of her childhood in San Diego, CA. She attended Cubberley Elementary, Juarez Elementary, Taft Junior High, Serra High, Mesa College, and Cal State Fullerton. Sandy, her older sister Kelly, and their parents were involved in Serra Mesa Bobby Sox softball. In 1979 she met her high school sweetheart Brad Barker. Sandy and Brad married in August 1986 and lived in Rancho Santa Margarita, where they raised their children, Zach and Sarah Barker.

Sandy had many interests, including hiking with friends, reading, current events, nature, cooking, calligraphy, board/card games, crocheting, camping, traveling, gardening, “girls’ night out,” sports, and organizing family reunions. She was the soul of a large extended family that will miss her dearly.

She volunteered at schools, coached, led Cub Scouts, volunteered at her church and local parks, and organized block parties. She was a medical secretary/transcriptionist for thirty years, allowing her to work from home, while always being there for her family.
