• Host Duke upsets No. 7 Virginia.

Struggling most of the season, Duke secured the signature win it's lacked to show its season may not be sunk just yet.

No. 7 Virginia missed three shots in the final 37 seconds, including Kihei Clark's 3point attempt at the buzzer, and Duke escaped with a 6665 win over the Cavaliers at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

It's the first win over a ranked team this season for Duke (10-8, 8-6 ACC), which has won three games in a row since dropping below .500 for the first time since 1999.

Matthew Hurt scored 22 points to lead Duke while Jeremy Roach scored 12 and Jaemyn Brakefield 11.

Jay Huff scored 20 points and Sam Houser 19 for Virginia (15-5, 11-3).

In a nip-and-tuck game, Virginia took its largest lead of the second half at 56-51 with 6:51 to play when Clark scored and added a free throw.

Duke immediatel­y responded with a Wendell Moore basket. Jordan Goldwire's steal led to a DJ Steward 3-pointer that tied the game at 56 with 5:49 to play.

The Cavaliers broke a 6060 tie when Clark drilled a 3pointer with 3:48 to play putting Virginia up 63-60.

Hurt scored a basket for Duke but Huff countered with two free throws for a 6562 Cavaliers lead.

With 2:41 left, Steward hit a jumper pulling Duke within a point.

That's when Brakefield made plays on both ends to put the Blue Devils in front.

With 2:21 to play, Clark drove toward the basket but Brakefield blocked his layup attempt. At the other end, with 1:59 to play, Brakefield drove past Huff to score a reverse layup giving Duke a 6665 lead.

Virginia had two shots to tie the game on its penultimat­e possession. Houser missed a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left but Huff grabbed the offensive rebound. Clark missed a jumper with 14 seconds left and the scramble for the rebound resulted in a held ball. Duke had the possession arrow.

Steward missed the front end of a 1-and-bonus with nine seconds left, giving Virginia a chance to win. But Clark missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

No. 5 Illinois 94, Minnesota 63: Ayo Dosunmu had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for his second tripledoub­le of the season, Kofi Cockburn scored 22 points in 24 minutes, and visiting Illinois (15-5, 12-3 Big Ten) cruised past Minnesota (1310, 6-10) for its seventh consecutiv­e victory.

No. 8 Alabam 82, Vanderbilt 78: Jaden Shackelfor­d scored a season-high 27 points and host Alabama (18-5, 13-1) beat Vanderbilt (612, 2-10) to move within a victory of clinching at least a share of its first Southeaste­rn Conference regular-season title in 19 years.

No. 9 Oklahoma 66, Iowa State 56: Austin Reaves scored 20 points to lead visiting Oklahoma (14-5, 9-4 Big 12) past Iowa State (2-16, 0-13) for its third straight win.

No. 10 Villanova 68, Uconn 60: Collin Gillespie scored 20 points and Jeremiah Robinson-earl had 17 points and 11 rebounds to help host Villanova (14-3, 9-2 Big East) beat Uconn (10-6, 7-6).

No. 13 West Virginia 84, No. 12 Texas 82: Sean Mcneil and visiting West Virginia (15-6, 8-4 Big 12) erased a 19point deficit in the second half, then withstood a flurry of last-second misses to hold off Texas 13-6, 7-5).

No. 23 Kansas 67, No. 15 Texas Tech 61: Christian Braun hit a corner 3 with 24 seconds left, David Mccormack scored 17 points and host Kansas (17-7, 11-5 Big 12) beat Texas Tech (14-7, 6-6).

No. 16 Florida State 79, Pittsburgh 72: Raiquan Gray had 16 points and eight rebounds and visiting Florida State (13-3, 9-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat Pittsburgh (9-9, 5-8) for its third straight victory.

Kentucky 70, No. 19 Tennessee 55: Isaiah Jackson scored 16 points and visiting Kentucky (8-13, 7-7 SEC) matched a season high with its third straight victory, beating Tennessee (15-6, 8-6).

No. 20 Missouri 93, South Carolina 78: Dru Smith scored 17 points to lead visiting Missouri (14-6, 7-6 SEC) past South Carolina (5-11, 3-9) to end a three-game losing streak.
