Downtown park needs what help it can get

-

In a few days, the City Council is going to vote on additional funding for the Children’s Park in Downtown San Diego. If it is not approved, the project likely will be delayed even further. The concept and initial funds were approved several years ago, but it keeps being delayed.

The Children’s Park, which is adjacent to the Children’s Museum and directly across from the convention center, currently is a stain on our beautiful Downtown area. The park is too dangerous for children and residents to use because of the illegal activity that is taking place night and day. Our Downtown residents, children and visitors deserve a clean and safe open space to gather and enjoy the outdoors. As a longtime resident of the area, I find it sad to see the deterioration of our oncevital, clean and beautiful city. Karen Green Downtown
