Sugar Mamma, known for quality, small batch caramels, is expanding its menu, offering more cookies, brownies and truffles, as well as vegan and gluten-free items.

“Here at Sugar Mamma Caramels, I use only the finest, allnatural ingredients,” said Nancy Gulizia-flint, Sugar Mamma's founder and confectioner. “Everything I make is completely handcrafted by me in my certified food operation permitted kitchen. Each caramel, cookie, or chocolate is truly made with the utmost care for my customers.”

Gulizia-flint's Christmas gifts of her sea salt caramels were so well received by family and friends that she was inspired to enter them in a candy contest at the San Diego County Fair in 2012. After that, she was encouraged to start her own business. Sugar Mamma caramels and cookies can now be found at shops across San Diego County as well as on online.

Caramel varieties range from her signature sea salt to chili pepper, rum and Meyer lemon. Also available are vanilla marshmallows and a range of cookies and brownies, many vegan and/or gluten free. Sugar Mamma products have been frequent favorite dessert winners in the San Diego's Best Union-tribune readers poll.

“When you choose to purchase delicious gifts from Sugar Mamma Caramels + Cookies, you are supporting a woman-owned small business. I am a mama first and a cook second, and I am grateful for all your amazing support through the years especially during the pandemic,” Gulizia-flint said.
