SAN DIEGO — Alvin William Kolva “Al”, 70, of San Diego, passed away on February 6th 2021.

Al passed away in San Diego of unknown cause while cleaning his boat.

Al was born in Denver, Colorado to Alameda and George Kolva. He grew up with his brothers, Philip and George. Al joined the Navy after high school, serving towards the end of the Vietnam war. After Al left the Navy, he settled in San Diego, CA where he met his wife Becky. Al and Becky had a daughter Milissa. Al was known as one of the best bartenders of his time - along with telling some of the best jokes and pulling some of the best pranks of all time. He was a very hard worker that loved his work of tending bar for over 40 years, making wonderful lifetime friends along the way. Al was also known for his great singing voice.

His neighbors say they will miss hearing him sing as he was heard singing daily. He was also a part of the local pool league where he often won first place. He was a very proud member of the Kearny Mesa VFW Post 3788 and Kearny Mesa Moose Lodge 1852 where he had many friends that he also considered family. Being dependable and loyal was of the utmost importance to him. Al is survived by his daughter Milissa Mcguire, granddaugh­ter Karoline Mcguire, son in law Joey Mcguire, brothers Phillip and George Kolva, sister in law Sandy Kolva and niece Larisa. He was preceded in passing by his parents Alameda and George Kolva, and ex-wife Silvia Rebeca Kolva.

Al’s ashes will be released at sea.
