Janith Ruth Olson-benetti

April 1, 1930 - September 10, 2020

OCEANSIDE — Jan Olsonbenetti 90 years young, passed away peacefully in Vista on September 10, 2020. Born in San Diego to Opal Mccoy. Jan attended Hoover and La Jolla High Schools, graduating in 1948. Shortly after, Jan met the love of her life, Richard Neale Olson. Jan and Neale were married September 24,1949. The following June, she gave birth to their only son, William (Bill). Jan was a devoted stay at home mom. After Bill’s induction into the Air Force, Neale and Jan relocated to Oceanside for job opportunities. Jan found the perfect job, a starter at the Oceanside Municipal golf course (now known as Goat Hill). She genuinely enjoyed the camaraderie & friendships developed and of course the opportunity to play a few holes before and after her shifts. Jan had the opportunity to work

at the newly formed Oceanside Municipal golf course on Douglas Avenue in Oceanside and retired after 22 years. Jan lost her darling sweetheart, Neale to cancer in 1990. She was truly fortunate to have the opportunity to experience love again in 1993. Another avid golfer, Cy Benetti. They enjoyed many years traveling cross country to his hometown in Wisconsin and golfing along the way. Unfortunately, Cy passed in March 2012. Family members and friends loved their grandma/ great grandma/aunt/ friend for her kindness and understanding in all situations.

Jan had many loves in her life, but her first love was her relationship with Jesus. She was a devoted member of the Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church. Jan was happiest spending time with family, friends, gardening, church services and golfing, now in heaven with her dearly beloved Neale, Cy, Sister Arlene and Brother Bernard. Jan is survived by her son, William Olson (Robin), granddaughters, Kerri Artz, Liane White, Cassandra Diaz and their families. A memorial service is scheduled April 9th, 2021 11:00 am at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church 4510 N. River Road, Oceanside, CA.
