Expert evaluates, buys large coin and stamp collections

Coin expert Alan J. Weiss had been planning to retire so he and his wife, Donna, can spend time traveling, but those plans are on hold for now. Recently, he has been getting many calls from people wanting to sell their coin and stamp collections as they clean out closets and storage areas while spending more time at home. So for the time being, Weiss is still busy working and ready to help people sell their unwanted collections.

Right now, the market is strong, especially for silver and gold coins and bullion. Also, quality U. S. coins and collections in nice condition are in demand. For stamps, only very large lots of material seem to be doing well, such as U.S. or worldwide collections in multiple albums that are well-filled.

Weiss, an Air Force veteran who has more than 30 years of local experience in the coin and stamp business, will evaluate large collections for possible purchase. The material does not have to be organized or even unpacked.
