ESCONDIDO —

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Barbara Rodgers in Escondido, California.

Barbara was born May 30, 1942, to Louis J. and Ellen (Wedeking) Kolar in Waco, Texas. She graduated from Connally High School in 1960, where she met the love of her life, Ray Rodgers. After Ray graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1964, they married in Waco with a military “crossed sabers” ceremony.

Barbara took well to the life of a military officer’s wife. She was the ultimate hostess and gourmet cook.

After the birth of their second child, Barbara went back to school at UCLA and received a degree in Interior Design. She applied her skills working government and civilian contracts.

Barb and Ray lived all over the world with the Air Force. They loved to travel and frequently did. One of her ambitions was to visit all 50 states, which she did.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray Rodgers; daughter Patricia King and husband Bruce, of Lancaster PA; and Greg and wife Leah Rodgers, of Montauk, NY; grandchildren, Isaac, Daniel. Molly and Abby King, and Franklin Rodgers; and sisters, Betty Hill, and Marjorie Kultgen; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made in Barbara’s memory to the San Diego Alzheimer Association or the Zoo and Safari Park.
