The motorist killed in an early-morning crash on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad on April 4 has been identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as Brayand Alejandro Cambell-davilla, 23, of Imperial Beach.

According to an earlier report on the incident, the crash occurred at about 4:45 a.m. when Cambelldavilla’s 2008 Hyundai Elantra veered left and hit the center divider on northbound I-5 just south of Tamarack Avenue.

The car spun out, re-entered the freeway and then came to a stop, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Cambell-davilla was either thrown from the vehicle or exited on his own and was struck by two passing cars, which also hit his vehicle.

Cambell-davilla was dead at the scene and the other two drivers reportedly had minor injuries.
