Animal: Carnation, 6-year-old, 9.5-pound, female domestic shorthair cat.

Where: Rancho Coastal Humane Society, 389 Requeza St., Encinitas. Appointmen­ts will be offered every day except Tuesdays. The first step is fill out a pet adoption survey at rchumaneso­ciety.org/adopt/ adoptions-by-appointmen­tonly and email it to adoptions@sdpets.org. If the initial telephone interview suggests a “good fit,” an appointmen­t to meet your desired pet will be made. If you can’t adopt now, you can be a “Virtual Foster” by sponsoring pets online at rchumaneso­ciety.org/fosterpet-parents-we-need-youespecia­lly-the-virtual-kind.

Adoption fee: $100, including microchip registrati­on. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinatio­ns.
