A woman died Friday evening after sheriff’s deputies found her and a man, both with stab wounds, lying on the floor of a home in Lemon Grove.

Deputies were sent to the home on Dain Court, near Jadam Way, after someone reported a domestic incident with a man and woman reportedly arguing shortly before 7:30 p.m., said sheriff’s homicide Lt. Thomas Seiver.

When deputies arrived, they heard screaming inside the home and forced their way in when nobody answered the door.

Deputies administered aid until paramedics arrived and took the man and woman to a hospital.

The woman died at the hospital. The man underwent surgery and was expected to survive, Seiver said. Their names were not released.

It was unclear what relationship the two people had to each other or whether there were other people in the house at the time, said sheriff ’s Lt. Chris Lawrence.

Officers identified in fatal standoff

The National City Police Department released the names of three officers involved in a fatal shooting that ended an 11-hour standoff with a fugitive earlier in the week.

National City Officer Robert Rude Jr. and San Diego police SWAT team Officers Brandon Jordan and Brandon Gibson were involved in the Monday incident, which began with an attempted traffic stop in the Point Loma area.

Police called in the SWAT team after a pursuit in which Christopher Marquez, 36, exchanged shots with officers, then stopped at Balboa Stadium in downtown San Diego and tried to hide in a large trash bin with a woman who had been a passenger in the vehicle.

The two SWAT officers fired at Marquez from an elevated position. Police said later they fired because they believed Marquez was about to shoot the woman. He died at the scene.

Authorities had been looking for Marquez since March 15, after he allegedly shot and wounded a private investigator trying to detain Marquez on a felony warrant in Chula Vista. Three weeks later, investigators said, Marquez opened fire on National City police.
