ESCONDIDO — Janee Marie Jones was born September 4, 1953, at the Naval Hospital on North Island, Coronado, California. She lived her early years in Chula Vista, California, attending Marian High School. Realizing her passion for education, she graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential.

Janee taught for 32 years in the La Mesa-spring Valley School District. She began her career in 1975 as a teacher at Avondale Elementary in a 4th-6th grade combination class. She then moved to Rancho Elementary, teaching a variety of grades, and ended her career as a Kindergarten teacher at La Mesa Dale Elementary. Always the life-long learner, Janee earned her Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on Crossculture Teaching.

Janee married Phil Jones in December 1981. In 1982, she took a short break from teaching when they bought the 32nd Mail Boxes Etc. franchise in Tierrasanta. Janee ran the business for several years before returning to teaching.

Janee enjoyed many activities, which included traveling, fishing (in Alaska & Baja), going to plays and concerts, cooking, and SDSU basketball and football games. Three of her favorite cities to visit were Seattle, Boston, and New Orleans. Janee was a member of the Puyallup Indian Tribe near Tacoma, Washington, and was very proud of her Puyallup Indian heritage.

On May 12, 2021, Janee peacefully passed away with her beloved husband by her side. She was a wonderful wife and a caring person, a blessing to all who knew her. She will be missed by all of the people she touched during her life.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www. goodbodymortuary.com for the Jones family.
