Myron James Nodecker

-

January 26, 1934 - April 19, 2021

SAN DIEGO — With great sadness, the wife of Myron Nodecker announces his passing on April 19, 2021, in a San Diego hospital.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harmon P. and Helen B., he is survived by his wife, Bernice Stark, and one brother, Bradley (Evelyn) of Syracuse, NY.

Myron was born in Oneida, NY, on January 26, 1934. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1955 with an AAS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Seeing many California aircraft company ads in the Rochester newspapers, he drove to San Diego, where he soon found employment.

He worked for several aircraft companies, including General Atomics, Ryan, and Rohr, as a Design Engineer and later as an Engineering Drawing Checker.

He retired in 1986, taking care of owned rentals. That gave him the freedom to travel and fish, which were his two main hobbies for the remainder of his life. With his world travels, he visited 127 countries. He had been a member of the Traveler’s Century Club and the Circumnavigators Club. He first visited the Sea of Cortes in 1957, which became his favorite fishing place, and later bought a house in Puertecitos.

In 1971, Myron met Bernice, who shared his interest in traveling and learned to be a very good fisherman. Their future together was sealed. Myron and Bernice fished and traveled together for 50 years. He will be greatly missed.

Myron was a devoted supporter of the Hubbsseaworld Research Institute and its work in ocean conservation and replenishment. Memorial contributions may be made to Hubbs-seaworld Research Institute online at http://www.hswri.org/ nodecker or mailed to 2595 Ingraham Street, San Diego, CA 92109.
