Stephan to speak at GOP club’s meeting
The Republican Women of California-oceanside will host speaker San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan at a luncheon meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 at El Camino Country Club, 3202 Vista Way. Summer Reading Program starts Tuesday
The Oceanside Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, with prizes for all ages, kicks off Tuesday and continues through Aug. 7, with online events, ranging from storytime, game nights and art classes to book clubs and writing workshops. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors Your World,” with a focus on exploring art and finding beauty in diversity. Participants earn prizes for reading books. Craft market to take place in park
The Poway Arts and Crafts Guild runs its Boardwalk Craft Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Old Poway Park, 14134 Midland Road. The market is open the first and third Saturdays of each month through Labor Day, then every Saturday until Christmas and features a rotating group of artists selling goods. RANCHO BERNARDO Drive-thru food drop-off Saturday
Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church will sponsor a drive-thru food drop-off from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at 17010 Pomerado Road to benefit Interfaith Community Services. Donations can range from canned meats, vegetables and fruits to pasta, sauces, cereal and peanut butter. Cash or checks to Interfaith Community Services are also appreciated. Animal center to hold Spring Fling Gala
Helen Woodward Animal Center holds its 33rd annual Spring Fling Gala, “Imaginarium – Illuminating a More Humane Future,” at 6 p.m. June 19 at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, 15150 San Dieguito Road, presented by Whittier Trust and Jim Hooker and Portia Metras at Coldwell Banker. The fundraiser includes dining, drinks, illusions and a live auction. Seats are limited and a virtual streaming option is offered, including home delivery of charcuterie boxes, chocolates and a cocktail kit for two for $75. Village Church begins holding indoor services

Garden club hosts garden designer
The Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club hosts a presentation by Nan Sterman, waterwise garden designer, botanist and author, at 10 a.m. June 7 at 17025 Avenida de Acacias. Sterman will demonstrate how to combine succulent and non-succulent plants and maintain a thriving garden. Bring succulents, cuttings, bulbs and seeds to swap. There will be a plant exchange and raffle along with coffee and snacks. Cost is $15; free for members.
