Beacons Inc. offers summer workshops for young adults ages 16 and older with mild/moderate developmen­tal or intellectu­al disabiliti­es from June 21 to July 29 on Zoom and at the nonprofit’s on-site location, 6150 Yarrow Drive. Free Kids Happy Hour kicks off Thursday

One Paseo puts on a Kids Happy Hour from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursdays at 3725 Paseo Place. The free weekly event series features family-friendly entertainm­ent, such as puppet shows, storytelli­ng and bubbles along with snacks from One Paseo’s restaurant­s. One Paseo is kicking off its free outdoor movie series, Moonlight Cinema, which will be offered at 7 p.m. Saturdays on One Paseo’s lawn, behind Harland Brewery, 3725 Paseo Place. ESCONDIDO ‘Travels of the Mind’ show seeks artists

The Escondido Art Associatio­n will put on its June Open Show, “Travels of the Mind.” Artists can drop off artwork from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 121 W. Grand Ave.; pickup is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 3. Entry fees are $30 for one piece, $10 for each additional up to two pieces; for members, $20/$10. Library seeks input from public on mural

The Escondido Public Library Foundation commission­ed artist Julia Anthony to create a mural on the west exterior wall of the Kalmia

Street library building. Two mural design options are being considered and community members can share their opinions through June 7 at escondidol­ibrary.org.

Gem and mineral show coming next month

The 66th annual Palomar Gem & Mineral Club’s Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 12 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 13 at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, 340 N. NORTH COUNTY Parkinson’s support group meets Monday

A free monthly support group for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners will meet at 10 a.m. Monday via Zoom. The speaker will be Carol Clupny, a retired speech language pathologis­t and author. Despite having Parkinson’s, Clupny walked more than 1,000 miles and will talk about her adventure. Vaccines urged for pet rabbits

Pet rabbit owners are urged by the San Diego Humane Society’s veterinary team to have their rabbits vaccinated against rabbit hemorrhagi­c disease virus Type 2, a contagious and fatal disease for rabbits that is spreading in Southern California. The Humane Society is also asking for the public’s help in quarantini­ng rabbits before bringing them to a shelter, unless they have been vaccinated for this disease. Rabbits should be kept indoors and separate from other rabbits going outdoors or exposed to wildlife or not living in the same house. Visit sdhumane.org.

Wildfire preparedne­ss grants available

To raise awareness about wildfire safety and bring resources to underserve­d communitie­s in high fire-threat areas, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and the California Fire Foundation provide grants for CFF’S Wildfire Safety and Preparedne­ss Program. Fire department­s and community-based organizati­ons in California can apply for grants to address ongoing wildfire risk. Library Friends hold book sale Saturday

The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library will hold a “Huge Book Sale” fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday behind the Civic Center Library, 602 Civic Center Drive. The Friends are preparing to move from their current book sale facility and need to liquidate most of their inventory of used and donated books and other items.
