The Welk Resort Theatre will return to live performances on June 3, but for the rest of 2021, all shows will be concert acts and variety shows. Full-cast live theater productions will resume in 2022. More announcements are coming in June
While many theaters have announced their plans to return in recent weeks, many other San Diego theater leaders say they are waiting until June to unveil their plans.
Lamb’s Players Theatre will announce its season on June 1. Cygnet Theatre is aiming to announce during the first week of June, San Diego Repertory Theatre is shooting for the second week of June, Moxie Theatre hopes to reveal its plans in mid- to late June, and San Diego Opera will announce its plans near the end of June.
North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach announced its upcoming season in early May, and New Village Arts kicked off a six-month residency on an outdoor stage at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad in early April, and the Old Globe and La Jolla Playhouse announced their plans this weekend.
